Our Sustainability & Community Impact
Sustainability is not a department at Electric Yacht Bali; it is the very reason we exist. Our entire business model is built upon the principle that we can and must protect the natural and cultural treasures of Indonesia. Our framework for this commitment is the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which guides us toward harmony with nature, with people, and with the spiritual world.
Environmental Commitment (Parahyangan)
Our primary mission is to provide an intimate experience of Indonesia’s marine beauty while actively preserving it for future generations.
- Zero-Emission Fleet: The core of our commitment. Our electric yachts produce zero exhaust fumes and zero carbon emissions during operation, protecting air quality and preventing ocean acidification. Their silent propulsion system also eliminates noise pollution, which is known to stress marine mammals like dolphins and whales.
- Marine Ecosystem Protection: We have a strict no-anchor policy in coral reef areas. We use only designated mooring buoys or anchor in sandy-bottom areas identified by our expert crew and marine biologist. A portion of every charter fee is donated directly to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur to support their reef conservation and local education programs.
- Zero Single-Use Plastic Policy: We have completely eliminated single-use plastics from our operations. Guests are provided with reusable water bottles, and all beverages are served in glass. We utilize advanced on-board water filtration systems to provide pristine drinking water.
- Waste Management & Sourcing: All waste generated on board is meticulously sorted and brought back to the mainland for processing at a certified recycling facility. Over 80% of our culinary ingredients are sourced from local Balinese organic farms and sustainable fisheries, reducing food miles and supporting the local economy.
- Carbon Offsetting: While our yachts are zero-emission, we recognize that our guests travel to reach us. We partner with the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve project in Kalimantan to offer our guests a verified program to offset the carbon footprint of their flights.
Community Commitment (Pawongan)
We believe that sustainable tourism must directly benefit the local communities who are the stewards of the environment and culture we celebrate.
- Local Employment & Empowerment: Over 95% of our team, from captains to chefs to management, are Indonesian nationals. We prioritize hiring from local communities in Bali and provide ongoing professional development and training to international standards.
- Fair Wages & Welfare: All our employees receive salaries and benefits that exceed industry standards, including full coverage under the national BPJS Kesehatan (health) and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (social security) programs.
- Community Partnerships: We partner directly with local communities for authentic cultural experiences. For example, we work with the seaweed farmers of Nusa Ceningan and the traditional weavers in the village of Tenganan, ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism are distributed equitably. We also sponsor local waste management education programs in coastal villages.
Cultural Commitment (Palemahan)
We operate with the deepest respect for the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Bali and Indonesia.
- Respectful Itineraries: Our itineraries are designed in consultation with local community leaders to respect ceremonial days, temple protocols, and sacred sites.
- Authentic Education: Our guides provide guests with meaningful context about Balinese culture, traditions, and the spiritual significance of the places we visit, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding.
Our commitment to sustainability is ongoing and transparent. We continuously seek new ways to reduce our impact and increase our positive contributions. For more details on how we select partners who share these values, please see Our Methodology.
